Portable vs Speed Darlington: Chaos in the Ring Set for April 18

Portable vs Speed Darlington-Chaos in the Ring Set for April 18

Two of Nigeria’s most unpredictable music stars, Portable and Speed Darlington are about to take their long-running beef from social media to the boxing ring.

The celebrity showdown, dubbed “Chaos in the Ring: Battle for Glory,” is scheduled for April 18, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island. And if their online drama is anything to go by, this match will be anything but ordinary.

It all started with a simple offer. In March, Speed Darlington reached out to Portable with a ₦500,000 gig invite for an upcoming show. Portable didn’t just turn it down, he dragged Darlington through the mud for even making the offer. In a fiery video, Portable remarked, “I charge ₦20 million. Ask around. I don’t roll with poor people.”

Darlington didn’t take the insult lightly. He fired back, saying he regretted ever reaching out to Portable. “Why the insults?” he asked. But things didn’t end there.

Portable took the next shot by challenging Darlington to a fight. “Let’s settle this in the ring,” he said, boasting that he’d beat Darlington the same way he allegedly defeated actor Charles Okocha in a previous boxing bout. The challenge went viral, with fans flooding social media, calling for the fight to happen.

And the internet got its wish. Mygamerush, the event organizer, stepped in to make it official. “You asked, and now it is here,” the company posted on Instagram. “Two street kings battle for ultimate street supremacy.”

Both artists jumped into training almost immediately. Darlington shared a video of himself in a boxing ring, showing off his footwork and jabs. Portable, never one to be outdone, reposted fight promos and training clips of his own. In other news, iNaijanow recently shared a post on the top streaming platforms to watch movies in Nigeria.

The drama didn’t stop at punches and push-ups. Darlington accused Portable of insulting his mother, escalating the feud to a personal level. In a bizarre twist, Darlington was spotted at a coffin shop, allegedly buying a “shiny” casket, a chilling message that left fans buzzing.

This isn’t their first public clash. In May 2024, Darlington mocked Portable’s arrest by Lagos State Police over an unpaid balance on a ₦27 million Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon. According to reports, Portable paid only ₦13 million and tried to escape arrest by jumping a fence. Darlington jumped on the scandal, branding Portable a “fake life” artiste and urging fans not to compare them. “I’m a star,” he said. “Portable is not.”

Now, the feud that’s been simmering for over a year is heading to the ring. No more tweets and insults. The real street king will be crowned in the rings.

The event is expected to draw a massive crowd, with fans eager to see who truly owns the “street king” title. With both artists bringing their loud personalities, over-the-top energy, and personal vendettas to the ring. Come April 18, Lagos won’t be watching a friendly sparring session. It’ll be witnessing a grudge match between two controversial personalities. It is expected to be fun and exciting.
