Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Tinubu, spoke candidly on Channels Television’s Politics Today, grounding his assertions in what he described as observable facts, not political noise.

He began with a bold declaration: “I have seen the political climate in Nigeria today, and I will speak to facts, not conjecture. There’s not a single politician who has the capacity to knock off President Bola Tinubu.” The assertion was clear, and it’s evident that Bwala believes the president’s position is unmatched as the 2027 elections approach.

Why Goodluck Jonathan Won’t Return to Politics

Addressing recent calls for Goodluck Jonathan’s possible return to politics, Bwala was equally direct. He warned against what he called “unscrupulous elements” trying to pull Jonathan back into electoral runoff.

Regarding this, Bwala explained, “They want to destroy the reputation he has been building after he left government by becoming an international figure,” Bwala explained, adding, “The elements that are going to him in the north, asking him to come to run, were they not the ones that chased him away?So what hope does he have that this time around, they are calling him because they mean well for him? Then look at the political class that is coming together to cajole him to come into politics. I know President Goodluck Jonathan is smarter than that “

Tinubu’s Northern Support Base and Policy Achievements

Bwala also replied to claims that Tinubu has lost support in the North, particularly by figures like Babachir Lawal. “Northern Nigeria is extremely comfortable with the governance approach of Mr. President,” he insisted. He stated that the President is solving the problems, both longstanding and immediate. Also, he mentioned that everything is already getting better. He contrasted real public sentiment against the political narratives being pushed by frustrated opposition groups.

The president’s efforts, Bwala emphasized, extend beyond political maneuvering into tangible policy. These policies cut across agriculture, education, economy, and social inclusion.

Opposition Criticisms vs. Public Sentiment

Speaking on Arise News, he said, “By 2027, there will be nobody strong enough to compete against him. It’s a fact I know.” Bwala cited policies like increased agricultural focus, student loans, and state-federal collaboration as the backbone of that confidence. He also framed Tinubu’s outreach as inclusive, aimed at building unity across Nigeria’s political, regional, and ethnic divides.

Bwala on His Past Criticism of Tinubu

On another front, Bwala was asked about his past criticisms of Tinubu, as someone who once moved in opposition but now stands firmly with the president. On Arise TV’s The Morning Show, he reminded viewers that “the opposition’s work is to criticise the sitting government.” He added, “My views changed after I met the President, and he saw a need to appoint me.My previous critiques are now irrelevant.”

APC Infighting, El-Rufai’s Defection, and 2027 Outlook

Lastly, when confronted with infighting within the APC, like Nasir El-Rufai’s defection, Bwala dismissed such moves as politically self-serving and bound to fail. He said, “Associating with sore losers to unseat the incumbent is not ideology.

He wrote on X. “It is simply inordinate ambition”, and he was blunt about its prospects for success. In all, Bwala’s remarks paint a picture of Tinubu as a president confident in his governance record, and strategically gaining toward a 2027 endorsement and victory.
