The Federal Government has announced the return of its acclaimed Build-A-Thon Holiday Tech Camp, a summer program designed to equip Nigerian children between the ages of 10 and 18 with future-ready STEM and digital skills.

Slated to begin on Monday, August 4, 2025, the 2025 edition will run simultaneously across three cities: Abeokuta, Abuja (FCT), and Kano, with registration now officially open to young learners from all corners of the country.

The announcement came from Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, who shared the update on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. He encouraged parents and guardians to register their children for what he described as an “opportunity to learn, build, and bond during the holidays.

“From Monday, 4th August, we are inviting children aged 10 to 18 to spend their holidays learning, building, and bonding with peers from across Nigeria.” — Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy

Hands-On Learning for the Digital Age

The Build-A-Thon Holiday Camp is part of the government’s broader push to advance digital literacy and nurture innovation among young Nigerians. Through a mix of project-based learning, DIY tech kits, and access to well-equipped technology labs, participants will dive into exciting areas such as coding, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Dr. Tijani emphasized that beyond digital exposure, the program fosters teamwork, creativity, and real-world problem-solving.

“Our hands-on sessions, DIY kits, and technology labs will empower these young minds with the skills to shape their futures. Beyond learning, it’s a space for kids to connect, collaborate, and be inspired together.” - Dr. Bosun Tijani

Following the success of last year’s edition, which impacted over 5,000 children in cities like Abeokuta, Maiduguri, and Owerri, the ministry is targeting at least 2,000 new participants in 2025. Plans are also underway to extend the initiative to more states in future editions.

The initiative complements the Ministry’s flagship 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program—a nationwide digital upskilling drive aiming to train three million Nigerians in essential technical and tech-enabled skills like data analysis, cloud computing, digital marketing, SEO, UI/UX design, and more.

How to Register

Enrollment is open to all Nigerian children aged 10–18, regardless of state or background. Participants will be grouped based on location and hosted at regional Build-A-Thon camps.

Interested parents and guardians can sign up their children via the official registration portal:

Final Note

Nigeria is on a mission to position itself for the digital economy of the future. Initiatives like the Build-A-Thon Holiday Tech Camp is the beginning. It serves as a critical investment in youth innovation, ensuring the next generation of Nigerians are not just consumers of technology but creators and leaders in it.
