Justice for Mohbad: VDM Leaks Explosive Audio, Demands Zlatan Break Silence Within 48 Hours
The fight for justice for the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has taken a dramatic new turn. The controversial social media activist Vincent Otse Martins, popularly called VeryDarkMan (VDM), has brought the matter once again to public attention with fresh revelations.
In a viral post on his Instagram page, VDM leaked an alleged audio recording that appears to feature a private conversation between Nigerian singer Zlatan Ibile and music promoter Sam Larry. The clip, mostly in Yoruba, captures Zlatan expressing fears about getting dragged into the heated controversies that trailed Mohbad’s sudden death in September 2023.
This leak comes just days after VDM held an unscripted Instagram Live interview with Sam Larry, one of the key figures who has faced widespread allegations and online condemnation since the young singer’s passing.
Zlatan Accused of Silence
VDM did not hold back. He accused Zlatan of deliberately choosing silence when it mattered most, despite allegedly knowing key facts that could have helped the late Mohbad get justice. In a strongly worded video, the activist slammed critics who asked him why he reopened the case.
“I see a lot of comments saying, VDM, why did you bring this case back? It shows many of you are ingrates,” he said. “I deliberately brought this case back because I see many of you have moved on, which is why our government can never take us seriously.”
According to him, Mohbad’s spirit remains restless because, nearly two years later, the late singer still hasn’t been properly buried. This has led to emotional outbursts among his loyal fan base.
VDM has now given Zlatan 48 hours to address the leaked audio publicly. He insists Nigerians deserve to hear what the artist knows about the events leading to Mohbad’s death and why he didn’t speak up when the #JusticeForMohbad movement gained momentum.
Sam Larry Defends Himself Again
Sam Larry, on his part, has consistently denied ever threatening or harming Mohbad. Speaking with VDM just days before the audio leak, he named Zlatan as his “witness,” claiming the singer was present during a now-infamous incident at a Lagos beach.
Larry explained, “Zlatan held me back and told me I had passed that level. That was how the matter ended. Nobody touched Mohbad.”
He also maintained that he only had two encounters with Mohbad in 2023, including the beach incident. He insists the altercation was about money the late singer allegedly owed him.
Despite his denials, many Nigerians remain unconvinced. Mohbad’s father, who never accepted the police’s initial ruling that cleared Sam Larry and Naira Marley, is pressing ahead with a fresh legal battle. A Lagos High Court is expected to begin hearing the matter tomorrow, 2 July.
Fans, Critics React
Zlatan, who is currently vacationing in Spain, has yet to respond to the ultimatum. Some fans have defended his choice to stay quiet, arguing that he has a right to protect his mental health and career. Others have called him out for failing to support Mohbad when the singer faced alleged bullying and threats before his death.
Meanwhile, supporters of VDM believe the new leak could renew public interest in a case that once dominated headlines but has since faded from the spotlight.
As the #JusticeForMohbad hashtag trends again, questions linger: Did key industry insiders protect themselves at Mohbad’s expense? Was there an intentional cover-up? Or is this just another round of scripted propaganda.
