Veteran Actor Muyiwa Ademola Unveils Ori Rebirth to Excited Audience

Muyiwa Ademola Premieres Highly Anticipated Ori Rebirth

Nollywood actor, director, and producer Muyiwa Ademola marked a major milestone in his career with the premiere of Ori Rebirth, a long-awaited remake of his 2004 classic Ori.

The event, held in Lagos, brought together a constellation of stars, filmmakers, fans, and supporters, all eager to witness the rebirth of one of Yoruba cinema’s most iconic stories.

Muyiwa Ademola, affectionately known as “Mr. Authentic,” arrived in style, symbolizing not just the glamour of the evening but the weight of the journey it took to get there. The premiere was not merely a film screening — it was a celebration of legacy, resilience, and the enduring power of storytelling. Nearly 21 years after Ori first impacted audiences with its thought-provoking exploration of destiny and divine purpose, Ori Rebirth returns to reawaken those themes for a new generation.

Speaking at the event, Ademola shared his emotional connection to the original film and his decision to remake it. “For 22 years,” he said, “not a single day goes by without someone asking me to remake Ori. This story is bigger than me — it belongs to everyone who believes in destiny, in purpose, and in hope.”

Ori Rebirth is expected to offer a deeper and more visually compelling take on the original, backed by a bigger budget and a more expansive production. With co-direction by Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami, and featuring stars such as Sola Sobowale, Odunlade Adekola, and Lateef Adedimeji, the film is poised to leave a strong mark at the box office. It is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide from May 1, 2025.

However, amidst the celebration, Ademola also took a moment to humbly address an issue that touched the hearts of many. In a public message shared online, he apologized to industry colleagues who were not invited to the premiere. He explained that logistical constraints and limited seating capacity meant he could not extend invitations to everyone he would have loved to include. “Please, I sincerely apologize,” he wrote. “It was never intentional. I value and respect every one of you.”

This act of humility, much like the themes in his movie, resonated with the public and drew praise from fans and colleagues alike. It was a reminder that even in moments of personal triumph, compassion and consideration remain essential.

With Ori Rebirth, Muyiwa Ademola not only revisits a story that shaped his legacy — he extends an invitation to all to reflect on life, purpose, and the invisible forces that shape our paths. The rebirth has begun, and it is nothing short of powerful.
