VeryDarkMan Releases Diss Track, Mocks Portable, Governor Okpabelo

You know VDM as the controversial social media critic and activist, but now he’s taken it up a notch this time, through music. On July 23, 2025, VeryDarkMan dropped a diss track that’s already got the internet talking. The track targets three prominent Nigerians: Edo State Governor Monday Okpabelo, street-pop star Portable, and clergyman Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin.
True to his unapologetic style, VeryDarkMan didn’t hold back. Right out the gate, he mocked Governor Okpabelo over his WAEC result, which recently surfaced online, sparking public outrage. In the track, he raps, “E8, WAEC result of a governor.
INEC, shame on you.” It’s a direct shot at both the governor’s academic qualifications and the electoral commission that cleared him to contest. While many online have laughed off the jab, others see it as a pointed criticism of the country’s political standards.
The governor hasn’t responded, but political insiders say the diss is already causing discomfort within his circle.
The track also reignites a feud with Portable, who has had a rocky relationship with VeryDarkMan in recent months. The critic referenced a viral incident involving Portable and an alleged tricycle theft. According to reports earlier this month, Portable was apprehended and allegedly beaten by locals over a missing keke.
VeryDarkMan takes full advantage of the scandal, calling out Portable’s street credibility and mocking the incident with biting lyrics. Given Portable’s history, many expect him to clap back loudly. The self-styled “wahala musician” is known for his quick temper and fiery responses.
He’s gone to war with fans, police, and fellow artists in the past, so it’s almost certain he’ll have something to say and possibly sing about this diss.
In other news, iNaijanow recently shared a post on a Nigerian man who just embarked on bicycle trip from Lagos to the U.S.
For those unfamiliar, Portable, born Habeeb Okikiola, rose to fame in 2021 with his breakout hit “Zazoo Zeh.” Since then, he’s built a persona rooted in chaos, charisma, and controversy.
His fan base loves him for his raw authenticity, but his reputation for drama has often overshadowed his music. This diss track may just be the beginning of another heated exchange that could dominate headlines for days.
The final target in VeryDarkMan’s lyrical assault is Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, the head of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry. In the track, he mocks the prophet’s much-talked-about miracle products, water, soap, perfume and questions their legitimacy.
This part of the diss taps into a long-running dispute between the two. Earlier this year, VeryDarkMan openly criticized Fufeyin’s products, claiming they preyed on desperate believers.
The backlash was swift: Prophet Fufeyin filed a ₦1 billion defamation lawsuit, accusing him of damaging his image and embarrassing both his congregation and business partners. Now, with this new song, VeryDarkMan has doubled down, and legal experts suggest it could give the prophet more grounds in court if the case progresses.
As expected, reactions online have trailed the video. Most fans are cheering VeryDarkMan for “speaking truth to power,” calling the track bold, fearless, and necessary. Some say VDM may have hit a nerve that’ll be hard for Portable to ignore.
“Portable thought VeryDarkMan is a gentleman,” one user commented, clearly stunned at the ruthlessness of the diss.
Another added, “Many Nigerians didn’t even know about that Portable and Marwa (tricycle) incident, but VDM just open the page for everybody.”
Dearest Jessica, one of many fans sharing their hot takes, wrote: “Next time, Portable will learn how to stay on his lane. Tulubu is a bad market. He should face his music, or he’ll lose his fans.”
Not everyone was clapping for VeryDarkMan, though. Some criticized what they saw as hypocrisy. “VDM claims to hate bullying yet he’s doing just that.
Because it’s Portable, everyone’s clapping. Nigerians are blind and gullible. What’s the difference between him and the politicians he insults?” asked Madam Gunnerz.
VDM has drawn the battle line and everyone is interested in seeing how this proceeds.
