President Tinubu Congratulates Soludo on Landslide Re-Election in Anambra

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo on securing a second term as Anambra State governor, describing his re-election as a validation of “visionary leadership and remarkable progress.”

Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), won the November 2025 governorship election in a sweeping victory, capturing all 21 local government areas of the state. According to the official results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Soludo earned 422,664 votes, far ahead of his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 99,445 votes.

The victory makes Soludo only the third governor in Anambra’s history to earn a second consecutive term.

Tinubu recalled visiting the state earlier in the year to inaugurate infrastructure projects executed under the Soludo administration, describing the experience as “remarkable and indelible.” He urged the governor to extend a hand of cooperation to his opponents and remain magnanimous in victory.

The President also commended the performance of the new INEC chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, whose team conducted the poll.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Omoregie Edoba, formally declared Soludo winner at the state collation center in Awka, saying the APGA candidate satisfied all constitutional requirements.

Other results announced include:

  • YPP — 37,753 votes
  • LP — 10,576 votes
  • ADC — 8,208 votes
  • PDP — 1,401 votes

In his statement, Tinubu assured Soludo of continued support from the Federal Government and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening democratic reforms and ensuring credible elections nationwide
