The nominations list for this 17th edition will be released on February 12, 2025, giving fans a sneak peek into the contenders for the coveted awards.

But that’s not all – The Headies has announced plans to host a second edition of the award in 2025. The second edition will focus on the music of 2025. This move is seen as a bold step to further establish The Headies as the premier music award in Nigeria and to provide a platform for the country’s talented musicians to shine. A Return Home for The Headies

The return of The Headies to the country is a significant development for Nigeria’s music industry, which has grown exponentially in recent years. The award show has been held in various locations outside Nigeria in the past, including the United States, where the 16th Headies Awards took place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

The biggest winners of the 16th Headies Awards included Rema and Burna Boy, who took home three awards each. Other winners included Wizkid, Davido, Ayra Starr, Asake, and Omah Lay. The success of the 16th edition has raised expectations for the upcoming 17th and 18th editions, which promise to be even bigger and better.

The Headies is a prestigious music awards show established in 2006 to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The first edition, hosted by Dare Art Alade, was held at the Shell Hall of the MUSON center in Onikan, Lagos. Over the years, The Headies has become a benchmark for excellence in Nigerian music, and its return home is seen as a testament to the country’s growing influence in the global music scene.
